EU Citizens' Forum group rules

1. The rules of the Forum for EU citizens

I have read the full rules at www.the3million.org.uk/forum and I fully accept them.

2. Empathy - no judging or blaming

We're all in this together. The EU Settlement Scheme, the 30 June deadline and the hostile environment have all been imposed on us by the UK Government.

Some people applied early, some people applied later; Some people found it easy, some people couldn't do it without the help and support of family members or charity workers; Some people are still having problems and are very worried because the deadline has passed.

This Forum is designed as a safe place for EU citizens of all denominations, regardless of ability, nationality, race, culture, sexual orientation, gender or identity and I want to keep it this way.

Don't judge if someone has applied late. They have reasons. Don't blame if someone has made a mistake and is asking questions here. We all make mistakes.

The UK Government created this situation and we need to help and support each other.

Thank you for reporting any comments breaking this rule so the Admin team can delete them. If the comment is offensive, the author may be blocked.

3. No hate speech or bullying

Make sure everyone feels safe. Bullying of any kind isn't allowed, and degrading comments about things such as race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender or identity will not be tolerated.

Please note we do not allow comparisons to the 1930s and Nazi Germany (You can google 'Godwin's law' to find out why).

4. Respect everyone's privacy

Being part of this group requires mutual trust. Authentic, expressive discussions make groups great, but may also be sensitive and private. What's shared in the group must stay in the group.

Also for privacy and safeguarding reasons, we do not allow posts requesting meeting up in person.

5. All posts and comments in English

While we are all European, we ask Forum members to post in English so everyone understands the content. If you want to share an article in your mother tongue, please introduce the article in English.

6. No advertising of any kind

Give more to this group than you take. Events promotion, advertising, self-promotion, spam, polls, irrelevant links, unapproved petitions etc. are not allowed.

7. I will not give legal advice

Legal advising is regulated, so you could be breaking the law if you give legal advice in the Forum. For more details, please read www.the3million.org.uk/legal-advice-vs-legal-support.

8. No Brexit or party political posting

Promoting one party or bashing political figures will not be accepted and the posts or comments will be deleted. This includes Brexit posts if not specifically about citizens' rights.

9. Journalists and researchers rules:

Journalists and Researchers must contact the3million before posting about interviews, surveys and information requests.

The moderating team is made of volunteers and won't engage with Forum members on Messenger about the moderating of posted content. If you have any questions, please contact the3million.

Breaking any of these rules may result in an instant block from the group.

There is more details about certain rules in our Forum FAQ. Please read them entirely before agreeing to the rules.
