I saw Government announcements about the increased minimum income needed to sponsor a family member. I have (pre-)settled status, does this apply to me?

If you are able to sponsor a family member under the EU Settlement Scheme, then you are not likely to be affected by the ‘minimum income requirement’ (MIR).

If however, you are sponsoring someone outside the EU Settlement Scheme, using Appendix FM, then the MIR will apply to you.

See this Home Office factsheet for more information - including that the minimum income requirement will initially be raised to £29,000 in Spring 2024, that there will no longer be a child element to the minimum income requirement, and that those who already have a family visa or fiance visa granted before the threshold is raised will not be affected.

Update 30 January 2024 - the Minister for Legal Migration made a statement in the House of Commons which sets out that the MIR will be raised to £29,000 from 11 April 2024, and incrementally raised further by early 2025.
