Photography project | Stories for Change

About the project

As part of our Stories for Change campaigning programme, we are exploring new narratives and ways of storytelling involving EU citizens living in the UK.

This photography project seeks to understand lived experiences and explore identities by shifting the focus from portraits to objects, places and spaces that shape our stories and sense of belonging in the UK and beyond.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for EU citizens living in the UK, who are interested in sharing their migration stories and experiences.

Are you eager to talk about how you relate to your European identity in post-Brexit Britain? Do you have a specific object that represents you well? Maybe there's a space that signifies belonging to you.

We're interested in sharing people's complex, non-linear, messy stories - and capture through a series of photographs representations of our lived experience as migrants.

We will work with selected participants individually to talk about your migration story and identify particular spaces, places or objects that would best illustrate your story. Participants will not appear on the photographs and will remain anonymous, unless they wish to add their names or any other details to the short accounts they will share, which will accompany the photographs.

Who you'll be working with

The project is implemented by two of our Stories for Change campaigners, Carolina and Linda.

Carolina is a Portuguese citizen passionate about the topics of migration and identity, who joined the3million to connect with other EU citizens and support shaping a more positive narrative about what we represent.

Linda is a Hungarian-German citizen with an interest in migrants’ rights and community-building, who is passionate about visual storytelling and seeks to contribute to new ways of representing our lived experiences.
